Csean Skerritt, age 34, was arrested for allegedly shooting and killed Tyler Lawrence on Sunday, Feb. 5, Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden announced on Monday.
Skerritt is charged with murder, being an armed career criminal level III, and various firearm and ammunition charges, Hayden said. He was already in federal custody on un-related charges.
"I want to thank the Boston Police detectives for their extraordinary, nonstop work on this case, and the US Attorney’s Office for the seamless inter-agency cooperation that helped take Mr. Skerritt into custody," Hayden said. "I also want to thank Tyler Lawrence’s family for their strength and courage during this time of devastating loss."

Tyler Lawrence's mother, Remy Lawrence, said her son was walking near his grandparent's house in Mattapan when he was shot and killed in broad daylight on Sunday, Jan. 29.
The grief-stricken mother said her son "doesn't have any enemies" and that whoever shot him mistook him for another person, 7News reports.
“Everybody in this city should be outraged and if you’re not what’s wrong," Remy told the outlet. “I want to know where are you people? It’s 11:20 in the morning, somebody saw something. And if you know something say something, it could be your son.”
Despite Remy's interpretation of the situation, authorities initially said that they believed the shooting was targeted. However, Hayden said investigators cannot jump to any conclusions.
"There is much we still don’t know about this terrible crime. But we do know that a 13-year-old boy was gunned down on a city street on an early Sunday afternoon," Hayden added. "We do know that we are once again experiencing the human anguish of too many guns on our streets and too many people willing to use them."
Tyler was a student at Coakley Middle School in Norwood and was "well-loved" by the community, Superintendent David Thomson said in a statement.
"His bright smile was on display every morning, and he made friends wherever he went," Thomson said. "He was an avid basketball player, and enjoyed sports and being outside."
“Our family is relieved and grateful that Boston Police and the District Attorney’s Office have taken the first steps toward justice for our beloved Tyler," the Lawrence family said in a statement.
"We would like to thank all of the investigators, the detectives, and the elected officials for their continued support for our family, for their integrity and their persistence."
Meanwhile, Skerritt's arraignment has not been scheduled.
